Pangu King Festival is a grand festival for Yao Minority to worship their ancestors. The old festival customs are recorded in many historical documents in China. The Pangu King Festival in Hekou is held on 16th in October in lunar calendar each year in those bigger villages of Yao. The Yao people dance and sing on the festival to celebrate. They also have traditions to clean the houses and make rice dumplings. The worship rite usually starts in the Eve on 15th in October in lunar calendar and Yao people will use sacrifices to worship Pangu King.
